Back in 2019, I was right where you might be now – an Indian Software Developer, packing my bags and taking a big leap into the unknown, moving to Germany.

The Big Move: Why Germany?
So, why Germany? For me, it was a mix of chasing new professional challenges in the tech world and a deep curiosity about experiencing life in a different culture.
I was excited, sure, but also a little overwhelmed by all the ‘how-tos’ of moving to a new country. It felt like trying to understand a brand-new operating system without a user manual!
Learning the Ropes (and Debugging the Bureaucracy!)
My first few months here were a real adventure, full of ‘aha!’ moments and a few ‘oh no!’ moments too. German bureaucracy, for instance, often felt like a complex piece of code that needed serious debugging. From figuring out the visa process and getting my Anmeldung (address registration) sorted, to hunting for an apartment in a busy city and landing my first tech job, every step had its quirks. I learned pretty quickly that a methodical, step-by-step approach – much like solving a coding problem – was the key to getting things done. And trust me, there were plenty of ‘bugs’ to fix along the way, from understanding local customs to simply finding my favorite spices!
